Volunteer recruitment
Efficient recruitment is key to the success of any clinical trial and at LCG Bioscience we proactively manage this process.
We have a dedicated team of Recruitment Officers led by the Head of Participant Recruitment, with study specific responsibility for managing the enrolment of participants to meet agreed deadlines.
We maintain an active database of over 4500 healthy subjects sub-divided into various categories. Our database can be searched on demographics and medical history in order to identify potentially eligible study participants. The recruitment team manages an ongoing marketing campaign aimed at potential study participants, which includes generic advertising in local media as well as direct mailing. To supplement these activities, LCG Bioscience has also arranged special features on local radio and television for specific recruitment campaigns, as well as web-based advertising.
A broad range of potential study participants including healthy young males and females, elderly subjects (age range 60-80+), asthmatics and diabetics are enrolled with LCG Bioscience.
To facilitate recruitment of patient groups we collaborate with general practitioners in the area, and with our network of consultants in the local NHS & private hospitals. Our network of contracted GP practices gives us access to over 1 million patients and facilities for remote screening and local delivery of study procedures.
We also have strong collaborative links with local teaching and District General Hospitals and have successfully recruited patients for studies in amongst others, renal impairment, narcolepsy, insomnia, MS, Parkinsonism, diabetes, psoriasis. We work closely with a well-established team of specialist medical consultants who help with recruitment, advice and assist in specific assessments.
LCG Bioscience participates in the TOPS 'over-volunteering' prevention scheme.
Our GP Network is an innovative research network allowing us to undertake Phase I and Phase II research in partnership with local primary care practices. We have a large number of practices from the East of England area signed up to the research network.
